The black wig in the Phantom's collection of
treasures is the one worn by the actor who first portrayed Juliet, under
the direction of the popular playwright/actor/director, William Shakespeare.
Since women were not allowed on the stage in that time, all female roles
were played by men. The promising actor Shakespeare cast in the role of
Juliet was, in fact, The Phantom, in his worldly disguise as Kit Walker.
It is said the the playwright placed the wig on the actor's head himself.
