Godzilla Raids Again was originally called
Godzilla's Counterattack but was released in the US as
Gigantis, the Fire Monster by Warner Brothers. Cheap new scenes with Amercan actors were shot for this one just like the first Godzilla to pad it for American audiences but they were scrapped and never seen (See there
is a God).
Another Good point to remember is that Godzilla was killed deader than dirt at the end of the first movie and this movie features another Godzilla creature called Gigantis... (Yeah yeah, but we can pretend it is Godzilla). This movie is also the feature debute of Anguiras who stops by to help Godz... er Gigantis destroy Osaka in a big wrestling match. "Ladies and Gentlemen lets get ready to rummmmmblllle!"
This movie suffers from the worst dubbing I have yet to experience and features a dumb voice over narration that intrudes on the action (1950's Amercan audieces must have been dumb as rocks), because of this it makes little sense in some parts but we can forgive that... It also tries miserably to capture the dark scary feel of the first movie, but the battle with Angilas makes up for all this.
